Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee

Purpose and Objectives:
The Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee in a college is established to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students, faculty, and staff. Its primary objectives are to:
1.Prevent Incidents of Sexual Harassment: Implement policies and practices that minimize the risk of sexual harassment.
2.Raise Awareness: Educate the college community about what constitutes sexual harassment and promote respectful and inclusive behavior.
3.Support Victims: Provide confidential support and guidance to victims of sexual harassment.
4.Ensure Fair Investigation: Conduct impartial and thorough investigations into reported incidents.
5.Enforce Disciplinary Actions: Take appropriate disciplinary measures against offenders in accordance with college policies.
Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Policy Formulation: Develop and periodically review the college’s sexual harassment policy to ensure it meets legal standards and addresses the needs of the community.
2. Awareness Programs: Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to educate students and staff about sexual harassment, consent, and bystander intervention.
3. Support Services: Offer counselling and support services to victims, ensuring their confidentiality and privacy.
4. Complaint Handling: Establish a clear, accessible, and confidential mechanism for reporting incidents of sexual harassment.
5. Investigation and Redressal: Investigate complaints promptly and fairly, ensuring due process and taking necessary actions based on findings.
6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the effectiveness of policies and programs, and make improvements as needed.
