About The Village
Thellickachal village in Pullampara Panchayat, Vamanapuram, is known for its sustainable and eco-friendly development. It’s situated on the banks of the Vamanapuram River and has been the focus of institutional support from Government College Kariavattom and Phoenix Library.
Major Activities
- Youth for Rivers (Yuvatha Nadiyodoppam) – Awareness and conservation campaigns along Vamanapuram River.
- Riverbank mapping and field surveys by Geography and Zoology departments.
- NEP-based orientation sessions for school students and parents.
- Karalivanam – A mini forest and butterfly garden project.
- Aksharathuruth – An eco-friendly outdoor learning gallery.
Library Support
- Donation of books, printers, bookshelves to Phoenix Library.
- Setting up facilities for Vanitavedi and Balavedhi (Women and Students wings).
- Entrepreneurship support and livelihood programs for local women.
Health Awareness Campaigns
- Free dental check-ups in collaboration with PMS Dental College.
- Lifestyle disease screening and awareness programs.
- Educational sessions on menstrual hygiene and menstrual cups.
Achievements & Recognitions
Pullampara Panchayat won the 5th National Jal Shakti Award for Best Panchayat in 2024, recognizing efforts in water conservation and sustainable development. The contributions of GCK and Phoenix Library were instrumental in this success.
The program aims to uplift the participatory village by advancing general awareness among the village community through a multifaceted approach which includes community Empowerment, skill development, community development, mutual Learning, Promotion of Sustainable Practices, personal growth & reflection, and long-term engagement. The College has access to Thelikkachal village of Pullampara Panchayath, Vamanapuram, through a faculty of the college. The college has ample human resources and experts in various
disciplines, who can extend their proficiency which can be beneficial for the village in various aspects. The initiative commenced with a pilot visit and socio-economic survey aimed at assessing local facilities, understanding the educational landscape, and engaging with the community to tailor the program to its specific needs. Fundraising was done from among the faculty members to initiate these activities. In view of the objectives, following programs were organised at the Thellickachal village.

Nature walks along the village to experience and familiarise themselves with the native life and nature.
Health camps and campaigns
Eco-friendly gallery: College has participated in setting up an eco-friendly gallery for small gatherings and awareness classes in a nature friendly environment.
Setting up of library: Students and faculty contributed books for upgrading the library.
NEP-based awareness class for higher secondary school students of the villages and their parents
